Working as a Door Supervisor - Weekend course

Door Supervision - Please see below for the dates / delivery schedule of our Weekend / Evening Door Supervision courses for Q1 2025. These are designed to fit learners who work during the week, delivered across weekends and evenings ensuring all learners attend for the total of six full days. 

 

We are delivering a course over weekends and evenings so hopefully you 9 - 5 workers can attend.

*** All Learners must have a current first aid qualification (Minimum 1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) with at least 12 months left to run. We do also offer this course, please see ther first aid section ***

 

This door supervisor course is just for weekends to enable you to fit it around your work or studies.. Whether you want to pick up extra shifts outside of your regular 9 - 5 day job, or are looking for a career change then this course will help.

 

Being a Door Supervisor isn't just about working on the doors of pubs and clubs, this qualification can take you  from football grounds to festival stages, from backstage to bag checks and everything in between.

 

The course covers all the requirements to gain an SIA Door Supervisor Licence. The course modules which include Working in the Private Security Industry, Working as a Door Supervisor, Conflict Management, Counter Terrorism Awareness and Physical Intervention.

 

Duration – 44 guided learning hours alongside some additional flexible distance learning in advance of the course and some self-study.

More course information

This nationally recognised qualification is for anyone wishing to apply for a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor. It is based on the relevant SIA specification for learning and qualifications and is supported by Skills for Security, the standards setting body for the security industry and the SIA, which regulates the private security industry.

 

Topics covered

The units include the main characteristics of the Private Security Industry, the importance of safe working practices to comply with legal requirements, the role and objectives of a door supervisor, powers of arrest relevant to a door supervisor, how to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations, good practice to follow after conflict situations, health & safety, search techniques, physical interventions and the implications of their use and the use of non-aggressive physical skills to protect yourself and others.

 

 

Assessment method

This qualification is assessed by practical assessments, Q&A and 4 multiple-choice examinations.

 

There is an element of self-study for the course which involves the completion of a workbook, which must be completed before the start date of the course.

 

Please be advised that as part of the practical assessments for the Door Supervisor course, all learners will be required to take part in role play scenarios that need to be filmed to demonstrate that you have met the requirements of the qualification.

 

Entry Requirements

All learners must be 18 years and over and be competent in reading, writing, speaking and listening equivalent to Functional Skills Level 1 in English

 

As part of the new regulations anyone wishing to take an SIA course must have a first aid qualification, Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) or an equivalent with at least 12 months validity.

 

Broadside Training will be running EFAW courses in the week before all of our Door Supervisor courses to allow you to gain that qualification to be accepted onto this course if you don’t already have a recent certificate.

 

As soon as you have passed the course and gained your new qualification you can apply for your SIA Door Supervisor licence and then begin work in the security industry.
